As a visual artist whose practice encompasses a variety of media, Hannah Mishin was originally trained as a painter. As her work evolved into a practice rooted in philosophical investigations, she became more and more fascinated by how we physically receive stimuli and how those stimuli are calibrated in our consciousness. To serve that concept, she now works with computation and electronics as core components of her practice. She is interested in how humans assume we perceive and how we physically achieve perception. Her work contends with these concepts by creating objects, installations, and interactions which highlight such ideas and challenge our understanding of the physical and psychological relationship of our senses and that which stimulates them.
