Which Program is Right for You
Martin Back is a human being who makes electronic and acoustic music, video art, occasionally gives performances, and teaches young people, at the university level,
how to make art that is better than his. He is a voracious reader, listens to a lot of podcasts and music and does his best to sit zazen an hour a day. His work has been
exhibited, auditioned and performed in museums, galleries, on radio and in alternative spaces internationally. From 2002 to 2007 he was assistant to media historian and theorist Gene Youngblood. At the same time he was also assistant to Steina and Woody Vasulka, who were among the first generation of pioneering video and media artists. The real hallucination he experiences as an individuated self is contingent upon factors such as living with his wife, Lindsey, a ceramics artist and sculptor, their two dogs and cat in a house in a neighborhood in Denton, TX which rests on land on Earth.
