Laura McGough

 

 

Laura McGough is a media art historian, curator,  and educator currently based in Alfred, NY.  She has organized exhibitions, screenings, performances and streaming content for arts organizations in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia focusing on emerging technologies, gender and experimental cinematic + media arts practices.

 

She received an M.A. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from New York University, a PhD from the Department of Media Study at the University at Buffalo (2018) and currently serves as the Visiting Professor of Contemporary and New Media Arts in the Department of Art History at Alfred University.

 

Laura is currently working on a series of essays entitled “Sun is the Oldest TV” which traces  a hidden history of video art through artist experiments with phosphorus, fluorescence and light.
