John JH Phillips


John JH Phillips is a sound and video artist. His work (usually in collaboration with sculptor Carolyn Healy) includes site-specific installations at Dartmouth College, Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia, International Computer Music Conference in Beijing China, University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Eastern State Penitentiary and the Museum of American Art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia and Suyama Space, Seattle. He has also presented sound and video works in industrial and historic sites including storefronts and warehouses during several Philadelphia Live Arts Festivals; Disston Saw Works as part of Hidden City, and Globe Dye Works. Other venues for his audio/video work have been numerous dance and theater projects in Philadelphia, New York City, Venice Italy, San Francisco and Helsinki, Finland. John’s grants include several from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. He has had residencies at the Millay Colony in Austerlitz, NY and the Experimental Television Center in Owego, NY. John currently teaches experimental media at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
