Gerar Edizel

Former Board Secretary of Signal Culture

Gerar Edizel is an art historian living in Alfred, NY. He earned an MFA in Studio Art from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and a PhD in Art History from Cornell University. He teaches courses in the history of contemporary and new media art at Alfred University where he serves as Head of the Division of Art History at the School of Art and Design. He directed the conference Electronic Intersections and edited and published its proceedings in a bilingual catalogue under the aegis of the Institute for Electronic Arts of which he is a founding member. He is the recipient of several grants from the NEA, NEH and NYFA for educational programming. He has delivered lecture series at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and has taught at the University of Art and Design in Jinan City in China. He writes and performs works of micro-fiction.
