Gali Greenspan (b. 1979, Jerusalem) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Alfred, NY.
Greenspan received her MFA from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design Jerusalem, Israel (MFA, Honors) (BFA 2005 Honors, Ceramics & Glass Design). Graduate from Alma College for Hebrew Culture, Tel-Aviv (2009). writes for °1280 Magazine for Art and Material culture. A former member of Hanina Contemporary Art Gallery - collectively owned non-profit gallery in Tel-Aviv. Exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Israel and the world such as Tel-Aviv Museum of Art, Cohen Gallery Alfred NY, Israel museum Jerusalem, Print screen international festival for digital culture, Israel, Ha’Midrasha Gallery Tel-Aviv, Dollinger art gallery Tel Aviv, Benyamini contemporary ceramics centre, Mint Museum Charlotte NC, Fresh Paint Art fair Tel Aviv. She has been awarded grants from iea (Institute for electronics arts) Alfred NY, NFCT (New Foundation for Cinema and Television, Israel), Israel, Bezalel Academy of Art and Design MFA excellency award, The America-Israel foundation award, Alma College grant, AIDA Supported Residency, and supported by the Tel Aviv Museum of art. Her works are in the Israeli Parliament ceramics collection and Privat collections.
Her works combine real-life video footage, sampled sound, videos of fabricated virtual spaces and real-space installations. She Question the human expectation for coherent order and borders. Subjects as intimacy, duratuion, emotional flooding are raised where the real and imagined exist simultaneously. Materials such as Vinyl, Foam-board, ceramics and carpets act as physical stimulators and carry cultural significance.
