Ben Lerchin is an artist, software engineer, and digital art fabricator working with experimental photographies, maps and language. Concerned with the power imbalances encoded by digital platforms, Ben develops interventions that position humans as empowered actors within the totality of global hyperspace.

Living and working in Oakland CA, Ben collaborates widely and is committed to developing a practice unconcerned with the disciplinary boundaries of institutional art. Past projects have included: building an autonomous camera for landscape photography, developing workflow tools for fine-art fabrication, founding a community gallery in rural Washington State, building websites for community organizers, and serving as lead engineer for an autonomous art robot. These works show nationally and have been written about in publications such as The New York Times, The Atlantic and Wired Magazine. Ben holds a BA from Whitman College and was a participant in the New York Arts Practicum.
