Alex McKenzie is an interdisciplinary artist who predominately works in sculpture, video, and sound. His work explores how memetic culture, systems, and loops affect the manner in which technology translates and disseminates information. Recent projects have taken the form of responsive sound installations, radio transmission performances, and screensavers. He has exhibited work at the Mint Museum of Art (Charlotte, NC), the Wiregrass Biennial (Dothan, AL), the Wassaic Project (Wassaic, NY), and will be speaking and exhibiting at the University of San Antonio, Texas’ MuTe Fest in February.
Alex holds an MFA in Time-Based Art from the University of Tennessee and currently teaches art at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, North Carolina.
